The award honored York’s leadership in creating an accessible and inclusive environment for individuals with physical disabilities, noting the “Disabled and Proud: Raising Awareness Together” campaign and the university’s extensive support infrastructure. The Office for Persons with Disabilities, Learning Disabilities Program, Able York, and ACCESS YORK were highlighted for providing specialized adaptive technology, alternative exam accommodations, peer mentoring, volunteer services, and the Ron Cope Gateway Resource Room for students who are Deaf or hard-of-hearing.
